Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he had ‘no high concern’ over Eddie Lacy’s ability to play in Week 15 after leaving the team’s Week 14 tilt early with a sore hip.

For those worried about Eddie Lacy after the running back left the Monday night game between the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, take a deep breath. Coach Mike McCarthy fully expects Lacy to suit up in Buffalo for the team’s Week 15 road game against the Bills.

“I don’t have high concern based off the information talking with Doc McKenzie last night,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said, per ESPN. “Coming off a Monday night game, tomorrow will be a lot like a Tuesday. We’ll see how these guys go through their examinations.”

Nothing appears set in stone, but that’s pretty optimistic chatter from an NFL coach, when the best we can usually do at this point in a given week is a ‘neither here nor there’ type of answer. In this case, McCarthy is pretty blunt in his optimism.

Even if Lacy can’t suit up for the Packers, the team could be well and good at the running back position after an encouraging performance on Monday night from number two back James Starks, who spelled Lacy early and often in the team’s 43-37 win.

“Obviously, Eddie was the feature back two weeks ago,” McCarthy said, “and we went into this with a 1-2 punch mentality and James was excellent. James Starks has played a lot of excellent football for us over the years, and I thought last night was one of his best nights.”
