Denard Robinson, who was one of the few highlights of a dismal 2014 season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, will miss the rest of the 2014 season with a foot sprain.

In what has already been (another) abysmal season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced on Wednesday that running back Denard Robinson will miss the final three regular season games with a foot sprain that was sustained in last week’s loss to the Houston Texans.

The 2-11 Jaguars have already had to endure an 0-6 start, a spat of injuries across the board and the fact rookie quarterback Blake Bortles couldn’t hold on to one of the hottest women an NFL prospect has had in recent years, so losing Robinson just seems like par for the course.

Robinson was one of the few highlights of the season, as he revived the ground game after free agent acquisition Toby Gerhart ran with the skill of an old Electric Football player and the brief Storm Johnson flirtation was nothing more than a sun shower. The former Michigan quarterback ran for over 100 yards in his first two starts and finished the season with 582 yards on 135 carries and four touchdowns.

With Robinson sidelined, Gerhart and his 2.9 yards per carry will get a second chance in the starting lineup, although the Jags will also use Jordan Todman, who has all of 17 carries, more frequently. Johnson, who has not played since October 19, could also find himself back into the rotation when the Jaguars take on the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.
