The Ohio State Buckeyes are preparing for their Sugar Bowl date with No. 1 ranked Alabama, but the Buckeyes have off-field issues with J.T. Barrett to deal with.
While the Ohio State Buckeyes prepare to play the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Semifinal at the Sugar Bowl, they have an off-field issue they’re going to have to deal with. Quarterback J.T. Barrett, who burst onto the scene this season in wake of the Braxton Miller injury, was involved in a domestic disturbance incident with his girlfriend on Tuesday night.

According to initial reports from WSYX6’s Mike McCarthy, the Buckeyes quarterback was involved in a domestic assault incident that resulted in no arrests. Police arrived at the scene to find Barrett and his girlfriend accusing one another of assault, but with no visible injuries on either person, no arrests were made.

While no arrests were made, the allegations against Barrett are pretty serious. According to additional details from ABC6, Barrett’s girlfriend told police that he choked her in the argument, while the quarterback insisted that the only contact that was made was pushing and shoving in self defense.
Barrett didn’t deny that there was a struggle, and neighbors confirmed that there was shouting going on. Despite that, the lack of physical proof of abuse on either Barrett or his girlfriend led to no arrests being made.
Regardless, Ohio State is still looking into the matter based on their pre-established protocol for this type of situation.
