The Michigan Wolverines are trying to fill their head coaching vacancy but are having a more difficult time than they thought they would with David Cutcliffe shooting them down.

When the Michigan Wolverines fired Brady Hoke, they were among two other big name schools including a Big Ten school to have fired their head coach. Almost as soon as Michigan joined the party, both Florida and Nebraska hired new head coaches leaving Michigan stranded in the dust.

There are a lot of interesting candidates left on the table, but guys like Butch Jones and Paul Johnson have signed extensions to stay put at their respective schools while Jon Gruden and Jim Harbaugh are not candidates who can be reached at the moment. That left Duke head coach David Cutcliffe as a top choice for the job, but it’s not meant to be.

According to ESPN insider Chris Mortensen, it appears that Duke head coach David Cutcliffe is not at all interested in taking over the Michigan job and has had ‘zero contact’ with the school.

"“Spoke to Duke’s David Cutcliffe. He hasn’t talked to Michigan nor has Duke AD Kevin White. No job offered to turn down. Content at Duke. To be clear, there has been zero contact between Michigan and Duke’s David Cutcliffe. No third party contact, even through search firm.”"

There were reports this week that Cutcliffe was in contact with Michigan or that the school had reached out to him. None of it has proven true and it appears that even if it were true, Cutcliffe would have little to no interest in the job.
