By Gerald Tracy
The NHL is known for it’s big hits, fights and drinking out of the trophy you receive when your team is the best in the league, but that doesn’t mean the players don’t have feelings.

All hockey players know that when you step out onto the ice there is that chance that they could walk off injured, whether it be from legal or illegal ways is up in the air. Shawn Matthias, the 26-year-old winger for the Vancouver Canucks, was hit quite hard and possibly illegally by Stephane Robidas of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The injury hurt Matthias more than just physically, who ended up having a head injury and missing Sundays game, but it also ended his hot streak of four goals in the last five games.
Reasonably so, without sounding like a guy who doesn’t understand the sport he plays, Matthias was quite upset and had this to say:
"“If we say anything we’re looked upon as complainers,” said Matthias, per The Province. “I don’t know why that is. They were hits to the head — blatant hits to my head and there was no call. Nothing. We asked the league for an explanation why and they have yet to tell us anything, so that’s a little disappointing. I have respect for what the league says and Robidas did text me and we exchanged a few messages. I respect that.”"
Matthias should be returning soon, but this is the second time he has been hit like this, the last one in November against the Nashville Predators. Hopefully he can stay healthy once back.
