The Boston Celtics are off to a sluggish start this season, sitting at just 7-13 roughly a quarter of the way into the season. Celtics captain and point guard Rajon Rondo isn’t too worried about all the criticism he is receiving in the media following the poor start.

While expressing his confidence that they can overcome their slow start and rebound, like another Boston based team, he compared himself to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” Rondo said, via the Boston Herald. “I’ve been here the longest, I’m the team captain and I’m the point guard. Just like in football. At the beginning, they blamed Brady a lot. That’s just part of it, and it’s not wearing on me at all.”

Brady was the center of a lot of scorn and criticism when the Patriots got off to a 2-2 start on the season. They have since bounced back and have established themselves as one of the best teams in the NFL and are considered to be Super Bowl contenders.

The Celtics and Patriots are vastly different teams, and expecting that kind of turn around from the Celtics is maybe being a little over confident. Still, Rondo has a point. In an open Eastern Conference, they could slide into the playoffs with a few runs and some better play down the stretch.
