Fantasy Football: Fantasy Playoff Sleeper Options

facebooktwitterreddit

The second week of the fantasy football playoffs are among us in many leagues. Chances are you have your starting line-up set in stone by now, but you may have found yourself having suffered one too many injuries and be in need of a plug and play option to help your team this weekend.

Some of these options may not necessarily be a recommended starting option, but they are players who should see playing time and hopefully enough touches to get you enough points to not hurt you.

Kyle Orton, Buffalo Bills: You could do a lot worse than having to roll with Orton this week. The Bills have Green Bay rolling into town, and one thing we can almost bet on is that the Packers will put up plenty of points with how they have been playing. The odds makers are expecting a pretty decent clip of points to be scored, and one would think Buffalo has to put up at least a few as the Packers don’t exactly present a great defense.

Chris Ivory, New York Jets: Before you start mailing me crazy pills and telling me there are no worthy fantasy players on the Jets’ roster let me explain my position. For the last 2 weeks, Ivory has had 16 touches or more, and this week he gets the Tennessee Titans. As a Titans fan at heart I hate it, but the Titans have been just what the doctor ordered for most declining RBs. We have seen that the Jets are afraid to let Geno Smith pass the ball, and I think we all understand why. I expect Ivory to get at a minimum 16 touches, but this week I would expect him to turn them into at least one touchdown. You could certainly do a lot worse if you are desperate for a back this week.

Toby Gerhart or Storm Johnson, Jacksonville Jaguars: Now please read this as I am NOT recommending starting either one of these guys. We do not really know who will assert them self as the Jaguars lead back. The Jaguars get the stingiest defense in the league against fantasy backs, so that does not make either one more than a hail mary option. But they get the aforementioned Tennessee Titans in the fantasy football championship week so if you have a spot to burn, and are a bit of a gambler, flip a coin and add one. It could pay off huge in your fantasy championship. If it were me, I’m adding Johnson at Gerhart  has had his shot and not done much with it.

Allen Hurns, Jacksonville Jaguars: As prolific as the Ravens are against the run, they are equally as bad against the pass. Bortles seems to be gaining some confidence, and seems to be getting a little better rapport with Hurns. I certainly expect Jacksonville to throw the ball a lot if they are going to move the ball at all, as it will not be in the running game. If Hurns in gone in your league, you could even give Marqise Lee a chance as they have basically had about the same fantasy output the last 2 weeks.

Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills: Coming off of an 8 catch 81 yard performance last week, Chandler could stand to have a pretty decent week this week against the Packers. The Pack do not do a great job of defending against the pass, and as discussed before there should be plenty of offensive points to go around this week. There is not much in the way of TE options on most of my waiver wires, so if you are desperate here, Chandler could be your only hope.

Well there you have it. A list of guys that are not necesarily recommended fantasy starts this week, but if you find your team battling the injury bug a few options to plug in and hope for the best.
