Kyrie Irving Suffers Scary Knee Injury (Video)
By Josh Hill
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the middle of a hot winning streak, but the loss of Kyrie Irving would be something that devastates a team that has finally found some footing.
Kyrie Irving is an example of a player who has adjusted to his environment and done so brilliantly. He signed a max contract in the offseason to remain in Cleveland, then watched as LeBron James brought the circus to town in his arrival from Miami. Since then it’s bee a bumpy ride for the Cavaliers and for Irving as the losses piled up and the frustration mounted.

That has all since changed, as the criticism of Kyrie Irving’s passing ability has dried up and the wins have started to pour in for Cleveland. The last thing they need is for an injury to derail things and it looks like that might be the case for the Cavaliers and Irving. In the second quarter of their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kyrie Irving suffered what could end up being an ACL injury after his knee made contact with Russell Westbrook while defending a shot.
It was an ugly injury that saw Irving’s knee buckle every so slightly in a manner that suggests something might be seriously wrong. The fact that Irving writhed in pain on the court for about five minutes afterwords doesn’t send any signs of encouragement back to fans watching in Cleveland.
Nothing can be speculated with knee injuries as sometimes knees buckle on their own and there’s no damage to be had. Other times the slightest bump can tear ligaments and there are scores of basketball fans everywhere hoping that’s not the case with Kyrie Irving at the moment.
UPDATE
It appears that the injury was not as serious as it looks and Kyrie is expected to return.
