Michael Sam might not have an NFL team right now, but he does have a documentary on the way.

The Oprah Network announced plans for a 90-minute documentary about Sam that will air on Dec. 27.

"“Michael Sam is breaking down boundaries and showing the world what it means to be authentic to who you are no matter what the circumstance.  That’s a central theme with the documentary and we hope it continues an important discussion,” said Erik Logan, president, OWN and Harpo Studios.  “Michael is an inspiration to millions and we are proud to be able to share his courageous story – in his own words – with our audience.”"

Sam and the Oprah Network originally planned to do a documentary about the former Missouri Tiger in May after he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. However, the documentary was postponed after the Rams revealed they were not made aware of the film before it was announced.

The documentary will focus on Sam’s life since he came out as gay in February, including the reaction to the announcement and his attempts to make it in the NFL.

After being released by the Rams in August, Sam was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys for a short-stint on their practice squad before being released in October. Sam has remained off a roster since.
