Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is confused how the NFL reinstated Ray Rice before him.
The Minnesota Vikings saw their star running back Adrian Peterson’s appeal denied and he is now officially suspended until next season. Ray Rice was reinstated into the NFL a couple weeks ago and is free to sign with any team that he wants.

Peterson is a bit perplexed as to how the NFL kept his suspension active but reinstated Rice. He made it clear that he has nothing but love for Rice, but that the issue and evidence against Rice was a lot worse than what he did. There is no question that he has a point and most fans agree with Peterson, but obvious Roger Goodell and the NFL don’t see it the same way.
"“I feel like they’re handling the situation absolutely wrong. I think I’ve been made an example out of. It kind of baffles me how — I have nothing but love for Ray Rice, I’m happy he has the chance to play. But it’s like, how did Ray Rice get reinstated before me, a team has a chance to pick him up, but I don’t have the opportunity to come back until April. When has that happened in any other case in the NFL, ever?”"
He has a lot of good points, and it would be intriguing to hear Goodell come out and explain the decision a bit more. Peterson has admitted that he made a mistake in the course of action that he took to discipline his son, and has made it clear that he will never do anything like that again.
Rice on the other hand was caught on tape punching his current wife unconscious and dragging her limp body out of an elevator before getting caught. That in and of itself sounds worse than a spanking that left a few cuts. Neither situation is good, but the NFL has to figure out how to be consistent with their punishment.
All of that being said, Peterson has been talking about potentially retiring following the mistreatment that he has felt from the league. He likely won’t up taking action on that talk, and it would be a major shame if he did. The NFL has messed this situation up so badly, and they are losing more and more credibility each and every chance that they get.
