The Charlotte Hornets were the latest professional team to get in on the highly powerful “I Can’t Breathe” movement.
The Charlotte Hornets are taking on the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night, and before the game got started, the team made a statement. They made a statement that a few other professional sports teams have already made, tossing their names into the fold now.
While getting set for their clash with the Nets in Brooklyn, the team came out in their “I Can’t Breathe” shirts, letting their voice be heard about the Eric Garner situation that took place in New York City.
The Hornets, again, are just the latest team to get in on this. We’ve seen the Lakers and Kobe Bryant, as well as the Cavaliers and LeBron James make this statement, and it doesn’t appear that it will be letting up any time soon.
Players from the NFL as well have gotten in on the movement that has swept the nation against police violence. More and more, sports are becoming a platform for these movements, which necessarily is not a bad thing.
It will be interesting to see who is next up.
