Dean Ambrose recently revealed when exactly the Shield were told that they were breaking up earlier this year.

One of the more shocking moments of the year in WWE took place this past spring when The Shield broke up at the end of an episode of RAW when Seth Rollins turned on Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. Since that time, there has been a lot of speculation as to when exactly the decision was made to break them up.

Well, Dean Ambrose recently revealed the answer, and well, it was on some very short notice, to say the least.

During his appearance on the Talk is Jericho podcast, it was revealed that the group were told right before RAW went on the air that night that it was the end.

"“They knew, I think, that if they told us ‘yeah, we’re going to break this up’… because, you know, they kind of did it before and it didn’t work out because they would always go back to us, the break up I mean. But I think if they had told us beforehand, ‘yeah, we’re thinking about just cutting this thing off’ that we would have been like… we wouldn’t have seen the forest through the trees, kind of thing. We would have been like ‘what? What are you talking about?!? It’s going so good. The t-shirts are out, we’re super popular, what’s going on, this is going so good. This is not the right time. We’ve got so much more mileage left in this.’ We would have like gone in and caused a big stink and it would have been like they would have had to talk us down.“So it was all decided and we didn’t get told until like right before the show. They brought us in and it was like dancing through everybody and then it was like right to Vince, just right to Vince, right into the room. He was like ‘this is what we’re doing and here’s why.’ We knew that there was no fighting it and we could tell that it had been hidden from us until then. And we’re like ‘all right.’ And then they explained it to us a little bit more and then we’re like ‘oh, okay. I guess that makes sense, yeah.’ Because, essentially, there was no one for us to work with at that point, we beat everybody.”"

In the end, though, it appears as if it was the right decision to make.
