Miami Hurricanes running back Duke Johnson will make his decision as to whether or not to enter the 2015 NFL Draft on December 28, the day of his mother’s birthday, the school’s all-time leading rusher recently revealed.
“Everything is falling into place, everything is working out for the best and I think to share whatever decision we make, to share it with her on her birthday, will be great,” Johnson told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Johnson, a junior, is expected by many to bypass his senior year for Miami to enter the draft.
In three years as the workhorse for the Hurricanes, Johnson has rushed for 3,387 yards with 26 touchdowns. And that was only playing eight games in 2013, as his year was cut short following an ankle injury suffered against Florida State. However, Johnson bounced back this year in a big way, rushing for 1,520 yards and and 10 scores while averaging 7 yards per carry.
Johnson also noted that he has not received any information from the NFL Draft Advisory Board as of yet, and that his mother will play a big part in his final decision.
Miami and Johnson will be in action the day before he announces this decision against South Carolina in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl.
