Ray Allen was a hot name to watch over the NBA offseason but he has yet to sign with a team — something that may change in the near future.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are plateauing once again, the San Antonio Spurs are going at their own pace while the Los Angeles Clippers continue to tread behind the Warriors in the Pacific. The one thing all three of those teams have in common is their reported interest in signing Ray Allen to a contract this season.

So far, Allen hasn’t committed to play at all this season, but with the season now nearing it’s halfway point, therein increasing talk of where Allen will play when he returns.
According to Shams Charania from Real GM, the Memphis Grizzlies are the latest team to throw their hat into the ring when it comes to courting Ray Allen this season.
"Ray Allen — the most coveted NBA free agent on the market — has heard from far beyond just five teams to consider, including interest from the Memphis Grizzlies, league sources told RealGM.Allen’s agent, Jim Tanner, confirmed the wide range of interest on Saturday and added that the 6-foot-5 shooting guard has no timetable to make a decision on his playing future."
That’s a bold move for the Grizzlies, but it’s not that surprising. Memphis is 18-4 at the moment and one of the best teams in the always tough Western Conference. If the playoffs were to begin today, the Grizzlies would own the No. 2 seed and be facing a very winnable matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
Allen has always been assumed to be signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the Grizzlies are a better team at the moment and if that’s truly what Allen is looking for than Memphis is is best option.
