Derick Brassard marks yet another case of the mumps as it spreads across the Eastern Conference

With the second announced case in the Eastern Conference Sunday alone, Derick Brassard brings the Eastern Conference official tally to three — meaning that apparently,

With this reported case, it’s concerning that the Pittsburgh Penguins let Sidney Crosby both practice with the rest of the team and speak in close proximity to the media before getting him tested; although the team captain and NHL star insisted that he wasn’t infected with the virus, tests done that very day proved otherwise.

We’re in a day and age where vaccinations exist, so I’m not entirely sure why so many players are getting infected. My biggest concern is that whatever strain of the mumps is affecting the NHL is actually stronger than the mandatory preventative shots, which poses a bigger threat when you look both at the league and at North America in general. If all the players who are becoming infected are claiming they got immunized as children, this means that no one is safe — sounds dramatic, but it’s also true.

Hopefully, the league is going to figure out what’s going on — and until then, is it so wrong of me to refuse to enter any NHL locker rooms for post-game interviews?
