Johnny Manziel’s first career start is not going nearly as he would have hoped on Sunday vs the Bengals.
Coming into Sunday the eyes of the NFL world were on Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel, who is making the first start of his career against the Cincinnati Bengals. How much of an upgrade would he be from Brian Hoyer.
Well, not so much better, if at all. He’s struggled mightily throughout the first half of his first start, and right before the half came to a close, he capped it off with his second interception of the game.
With under two minutes to go in the half, Manziel was under pressure in the pocket, pressure which he was able to get out of and roll to his right.
Then, apparently, he thought he was at Texas A&M again and playing Rice, as he tries to sidearm this ball into the endzone. Needless to say, when you do this against adults, it’s going to get picked off.
Yeah, picked off, just like that.
It’s painfully obvious that there is still a lot of work that Johnny Football has to do. That work might begin with him not playing so much like Johnny Football, ironically enough.
