The New York Giants are all but certain to move on from Tom Coughlin this offseason, and they may be the team that finally draws Bill Cowher out of retirement.
It has been almost a decade since Pittsburgh Steelers won their first Super Bowl with Bill Cowher and he rode off into the sunset to live in the world of television analysis. Cowher has made The NFL Today on CBS his home since retiring, but there are once again rumors that he could be going back to his old job on Sundays once this current season wraps up.

Cowherd’s name routinely comes up when teams fire their head coach and need to find a replacement, but it’s bee a very long time since either team in New York has been in need of a new coach. In 2015, both teams will be looking for new head coaches with Rex Ryan out with the Jets and Tom Coughlin out with he Giants.
According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, if Bill Cowher considered a return to the NFL it would be with the New York Giants.
"I’m told, if Cowher considers a comeback in New York, it would be with the Giants, not the Jets. From all indications, Cowher is happy in TV, so it probably would take an extraordinary situation to get him back on the sideline. Cowher, 57, hasn’t coached in eight years, so it wouldn’t be an easy transition. The game has changed."
Cowher may be happy in television but he’s never had an opportunity to coach a team in New York since being politely asked back in 2008 before the Jets hired Rex Ryan. This biggest reason teams don’t think they can hire Cowher is because he doesn’t want to move his family away from New York but with the Giants job, he wouldn’t have to.
Of course, this could just be another instance where his name comes up and it means nothing but the team looking at Cowher could be a real option moving forward.
