Percy Harvin, who was acquired by the New York Jets via trade this season, will not take a pay cut to stay in the Big Apple.

This offseason, the New York Jets will have a big decision to make regarding the future of wide receiver Percy Harvin.

Harvin is due a base salary of $10.5 million next season and he is reportedly unwilling to take a pay cut to remain with the New York Jets, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

If Harvin is on the Jets’ roster next season, New York will also have to give up a fourth-round pick rather than a sixth-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Harvin moving forward and there is no telling what direction the Jets will go. They could choose to trade Harvin or Harvin could ultimately change his mind and accept a reduced deal, but a decision will have to be made sooner rather than later.

As Mehta notes, why would anyone take a pay cut to stay on a bad team with poor quarterback play? It just wouldn’t make sense.

New York will likely either have to ante up or watch Percy Harvin move on.
