Seattle basketball fans are still upset about the team leaving to become the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the franchise’s new fans don’t like talking about the team’s roots.
Phoenix Suns point guard Isaiah Thomas was on Twitter bantering about when he brought his Tweeting spree to an end to focus on the game, but decided to throw a jab at the Oklahoma City Thunder in the process by calling them the Sonics, a reference to the franchise’s name when they were in the Pacific Northwest.
It is a clever joke and one that Seattle fans probably got a kick out of. As for the Oklahoma fans, they probably weren’t too thrilled.
The real question is if it will serve as motivation for the Thunder, who probably don’t care. Nevertheless this is a quality troll job.
