Arizona Cardinals‘ head coach Bruce Arians says that Ryan Lindey will start at quarterback on Sunday after the injury to Drew Stanton last week’s NFL game.

With their playoff spot already clinched, but the division still very much up for grabs, the Arizona Cardinals will turn to Ryan Lindley at quarterback. Arizona hosts the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, with the winner likely claiming the NFC West crown.

The Cardinals lost starting quarterback Carson Palmer to a torn ACL back on November 9th. Backup Drew Stanton then suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain in Thursday’s win over the St. Louis Rams. That leaves Lindley under center for Arizona, a quarterback who has has thrown zero touchdowns in his seven career starts in the NFL.

The other option was rookie Logan Thomas. Thomas was taken in the fourth round, and was considered a major project at quarterback. He also has considerable athletic upside, and will likely see the field on Sunday in special personnel packages.

Arizona’s offense has struggled since Palmer went down with his knee injury. They’ve been able to continue winning though, riding the tremendous play of their defense.

Lindley and the Cardinals will face a tough challenge against Seattle. The Seahawks have not given up 200 yards passing in a game for over a month, and have the league’s No. 1 rated defense.

A win for Arizona over Seattle will clinch the NFC West for the Cardinals, a loss gives Seattle the lead in the division, but Arizona can still win the division if things fall correctly in the final week of the season.
