If you needed any more reason to be a fan of Chase Utley, the Phillies All-Star second baseman gave you another example of the classy gentleman he is by appearing on Ellen to surprise a young Phillies fan battling a rare form of cancer.

Julie Kramer, 23, was diagnosed with Stage IV sarcoma, a form of soft tissue cancer that Julie says is found in four percent or less of people worldwide. She has maintained a vibrant spirit in the face of this disease and hours after undergoing an eight-nine hour surgery danced through the halls of the hospital.

A “huge” Phillies fan who calls Chase Utley her favorite player was surprised to see Utley walk out on the set, hand her some gifts, sit next to her and offered to bring her to as many Phillies games as she wants as his personal guest and come for batting practice, take a tour of the stadium and meet some of Utley’s teammates.

All Julie could say was, “That would be so cool. That would be so cool.”

I mean what else is there to say after that.

You can watch the entire interview with Julie, Chase and Ellen here.

Kudos to you Chase and Godspeed Julie in your fight against cancer. I hope you can make it to a number of Phillies games next year and beyond.
