Kobe Bryant has scored more points than all but two players to ever appear in the NBA. The feat didn’t go unnoticed when he clinched that distinction with a pair of free throws in Minnesota, and it certainly didn’t escape the peripheral of those manning the Los Angeles Lakers team plane after the game.
Watch below as Kobe enters the team plane, which was decked out to congratulate Bryant on becoming the third-highest scoring player in NBA history.
Ever the professional, Kobe Bryant keeps chugging along even as the Lakers flounder around him. The team sits at 8-16 after their 100-94 victory over the Timberwolves, but that’s not for lack of Kobe, who has averaged over 25 points per game during the team’s wretched start. Now Bryant sits behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone on the all-time points list.
There’s no word on whether or not there was a big cake with 32,923 candles on it to celebrate each of Bryant’s NBA points, but it appears the team at least made sure to give the five-time champion the special recognition he deserves for not only piling on the points, but for doing so with the same team for so long.
