Los Angeles Kings’ defenseman Slava Voynov is in court Monday for his domestic abuse case, and police testimony have given shocking new details on the injuries to his wife, Marta Varlomova.
Slava Voynov was arrested back in October for domestic abuse after getting into an altercations with his wife, Marta Varlamova. On Monday, he is in Southern California court room for a preliminary hearing after being charged with a felony charge of domestic assault.

On Dec. 1st, Voynov pleaded not guilty to one felony count of ‘corporal injury to a spouse with great bodily injury’. Voynov’s defense has stated that the incident was purely an accident and that he never struck his wife.
However, the testimony from the Redondo Beach police officer who was at the scene of the incident begs to differ. Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times Tweeted the testimony.

You were saying, Slava?
I have no idea what would enrage Voynov so much where he got to the point of doing these unspeakable things, but the man clearly needs help. It is interesting to note, however, that Marta still lives with her husband and initially did not want any charges filed against her husband.
On Dec. 2nd, a day after Voynov pleaded not guilty to the charges, he was seen practicing with the Los Angeles Kings even though the league had suspended him. The Kings were promptly fined $100,000 by the league for allowing Voynov to practice with the team.
Update: The judge has ruled that there is sufficient evidence for the charges against Voynov and the case will go to trial. His arraignment will be on Dec. 29th at 8:30 AM.
