The on-again, off-again relationship with Jay Gruden and Robert Griffin III is back on after Gruden said at his Monday press conference that Griffin III will start Sunday’s game against the Eagles after coming in for an injured Colt McCoy last week. Griffin III went 18-of-27 for 236 yards and a touchdown while rushing for a season-high 46 yards on five attempts.
This makes sense for Washington to play RGIII the remainder of the season and see how much he can grow and fit in Gruden’s offense. He’s been in and out of the lineup due to injury and poor play but with the Redskins playing for the future they have to see how their former Rookie of the Year quarterback can perform before the end of the year.
If Griffin plays poorly to close the year the team may have a tough decision to make regarding his future in Washington and Gruden’s future in the nation’s capital and if the two can co-exist of if Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen will have to make a decision which one they keep around.
