Boston College Coach Steve Addazio wants you to “Be A Dude” and come to watch Boston College and Penn State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl

There are only a few things that come to mind truly sadder than watching a grown man beg fans to come watch his team play football.

Boston College football coach Steve Addazio swallowed his pride and made this ‘Be A Dude’ video to try to get some, if any, of the team’s fans to come watch them take on Penn State in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

There’s nothing good about this video, other than it being absolutely hilarious for being so bad, that makes me feel compelled to attend the game. I feel embarrassed for everyone associated with the video and the Boston College football program.

For those who don’t know, “Be a Dude” is Addazio’s slogan or mantra for the BC football team. I really don’t understand what it means exactly, but Addazio gave this explanation to ESPN back in September:

"“And what being a dude is is being a baller. You know? Just being a real baller. Just being a dude."

And:

"“Be great. Be a baller. Be great at what you are. Just don’t be average.”"

Ugh… Knowing it means being a “baller” just makes it that much worse.

I guess, we’ll see how many dude-ballers turn up in Dude-York City for the Dude-Era Dude-Stripe Dude-Bowl between Dude-State and Dude-College.

The game is scheduled for Dec. 27 at 4:30 P.M. EST. Boston College is 7-5 this season; Penn State is 6-6.
