The Chicago Bears are currently expected to fire head coach Marc Trestman at the end of the NFL season.

More from Chicago Bears

Marc Trestman and the Chicago Bears are in the middle of a nightmare season, and there are going to be some major changes this coming offseason. It appears that the Bears are ready to move on from Trestman, and are currently expected to fire him if nothing else changes.

Jay Cutler is also in jeopardy of being replaced with the way that he has played this season, but the Bears have locked themselves into a bad situation thanks to the extension they gave him. There aren’t any bright spots this season for the Bears, and they are heading for an incredibly long and confusing offseason. A lot of things need to be fixed in Chicago before they get back to contention, and it will likely start with the had coach.

The infamous “sources” have struck again and it will be intriguing to see if they are right. Assuming they are, it will be very intriguing to see which candidates step up as potential replacements. Jim Harbaugh certainly would make a lot of sense for the Bears, and it could be a possibility depending on how much the Bears are willing to pay for him.

Ownership needs to look to go all out to bring in a quality coaching staff this offseason if they want to right the ship anytime soon. There are some pieces in Chicago on the roster that should stay, but they need to make wide sweeping moves as far as the players are concerned as well.

All of that being said, the Bears have a lot of work to do this coming offseason. They can’t afford to keep taking the “wait and see” approach with the current regime. Things haven’t worked out, and the Bears need to cut their losses and move on to a new era of football.
