Chances are you have never heard of JaKarr Sampson. Well he’s a rookie Small Forward that plays for Philadelphia 76ers. He averages about 8.5 minutes, 1.8 points, and 1.6 rebounds per game. Oh and he can also do this.
This is just a reminder that NBA players can do incredible things that no average human can do. Sampson might play on the worst team in the NBA, and yes he doesn’t do much when he does play. But you know what he can do? Throw down a dunk between his legs off the catch. Can you do that? Didn’t think so. This is just the latest incredible thing a player has done during practice, to be honest, if practice was something I could watch on TV I would watch it for stuff like this. The things players can do when nobody is defending them and are in a relaxed setting is completely absurd.
Alright, lets grade this baby. The pass is a little too high which makes the ball come down awkwardly. However, Sampson does a nice job to recover and not let the pass effect him too much, although it does appear to mess up the height of his jump a little. The technique of the dunk is solid, Sampson catches it one hand, pulls it down, grabs the ball with his other hand, then throws it down. It’s simple, yet poetic, not a lot of extra flash is added to the dunk but I’m not sure he had the time or height to be able to do so. Gotta dock a few points for the dunk being a bit of a rim grazer, and he fell down after completing it. The dunk scores a 9 out of 10. It’s not perfect but damn is it impressive.
