NFL players are accused of faking injuries all the time, but Keenan Allen proved on Sunday that not everyone is a sissy about their injuries.

It was discovered on Monday that Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray broke a bone in his hand during his team’s Sunday night win over the Eagles. That’s nothing compared to what Keenan Allen of the San Diego Chargers went through as his injury was far more painful yet he didn’t leave the game.

At some point during the Chargers loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon, Keenan Allen broke his collarbone but failed to have it diagnosed as such throughout the course of the remainder of the game.

According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Times, Keenan Allen indeed broke his collarbone at some point against the Broncos on Sunday but continued to play through it anyways. It wasn’t discovered until a Monday checkup that Allen’s collarbone was indeed broken.

This isn’t a medical scandal like what we have up in New England at the moment, rather it just goes to show you how tough — or doped up on cortisone — Allen was on Sunday afternoon. A broken collarbone is something currently keeping Nick Foles out for the Eagles and has sidelined so many players in so many sports over the years.

Yet here’s Allen, a spunky sophomore wide receiver who breaks a bone in his shoulder and continues to play. If you’ve ever broken your collarbone before, it’s not pretty and hardly feels fantastic. That didn’t stop Allen from continuing to play on through the injury and continue to take contact with the broken collarbone.

To say he’s a trooper is to vastly undersell things as Keenan Allen was a warrior in every sense of the term on Sunday — and still didn’t even win the game.
