9. Kobe Bryant’s Garden Party

Date: February 2, 2009 vs. New York Knicks
Stats: 61 points, 3 assists, 1 block

There are some things in life that will never change. The New York Knicks are one of the most prestigious franchises in NBA history and their arena, Madison Square Garden, is always going to stay as the best arena to play basketball in. The lure of the Garden, the atmosphere of its surroundings, the New York Penn Station underneath the arena, and the amazing fans that watch basketball there only add to its mystique.

Kobe Bryant walked into MSG and broke the arena record with his 61-point game. Any way the Knicks wanted it, they got it. One dribble pull ups, three pointers, two dribble pull ups, reverse layups, catch and shoot jumpers, it didn’t matter. It looked like Bryant was in the middle of a shoot around and the way he was scoring. Even the Madison Square Garden crowd rose to their feet and started turning their boos into “MVP!” cheers. Spike Lee was in the building and got a front row view of Kobe’s magical night.
