NBA: Ranking My Favorite Kobe Bryant Performances
4. “I Have Three Quarters, Keep the Fourth.”
Date: December 20, 2005 vs. Dallas Mavericks
Stats: 62 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals
It’s been more than 10 years and I still can’t imagine how Kobe Bryant managed to score 62 points in three quarters against the Dallas Mavericks. Better yet, I still can’t think of how many points he would’ve scored if he would’ve played in the fourth quarter of that game. People would’ve unfairly complained that the Los Angeles Lakers were running up the score allowing Bryant to play in the fourth but it wouldn’t have mattered to most fans when Bryant would’ve walked away with the single most highest scoring game in NBA history.
Since Wilt Chamberlain is the only person to ever score 100 points in a game, I know I was so close to watching that feat get accomplished again when Bryant played in this game. It should’ve happened but hey, because it didn’t it only further adds to the mystique of Bryant’s amazing legacy.
