A campaign has been started in order to help raise money in hopes that the long-time NFL franchise Washington Redskins will be forced to change their name.

There has been quite a fuss about the Washington Redskins name this season, and many believe that it is racist and needs to be changed. Others don’t think that it is racist at all and that the name should remain the same as it has for years.

It hasn’t seemed to bother the majority of the nation, but the feeling has begun to grow in recent weeks. There is a campaign now that is selling shirts and raising money in hopes that they can force a name change. Needless to say, it is going to take a lot to force a name change of an NFL franchise, but the support appears to be growing as the campaign has recently begun getting more attention across the country.

Take a look at one of the tweets that was put out about the campaign:

Washington has been known as the Redskins for so long that it would just seem wrong to change it now. There have been no issues with the name until the past year or two as racial tensions have begun to rise from every single race. All of this needs to stop, as this isn’t a form of intentional racism towards the native American Indians.

Obviously this has become an issue for a small group of people, but until they gain more steam and more people come forward as offended it shouldn’t be paid attention to. If this was a blatant form of racism then that would be one thing, but it quite simply isn’t.
