Philadelphia Eagles’ Trent Cole Could Be Done For Season

Philadelphia Eagles outside linebacker Trent Cole could be done for the season after fracturing his hand in Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

In what could be bad news for an Eagles team still trying to get into the playoffs, veteran linebacker Trent Cole could be out for the season with a fractured hand.

Cole is currently weighing his options, which could include having surgery or playing with the hand wrapped up. However, he has indicated that he won’t play with the club hand as Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews did last year.

Cole will reportedly consider the options for the first few days in the week and probably make a decision mid-week. If the veteran decides on surgery, it would definitely rule him out for the last two games and possibly for the playoffs as well.

If Cole can’t go, Brandon Greene will step in for the remainder of the season and the playoffs, if the Eagles make it. The Eagles will be trying to rebound from two straight losses on Saturday against the Washington Redskins.

Cole has six and a half sacks, 19 hurries, three forced fumbles and 11.5 tackles for a loss this season.

This is his second season as an outside linebacker, after eight seasons at defensive end. Cole is the Eagles’ longest tenured defensive player and is due to make over $10 million for his next three signed seasons. It’s possible that if he elects for surgery, the Eagles will choose to part ways with him next season.
