Those opposing the Washington Redskins’ team name plan to stage a protest during the team’s Week 17 home finale against the Dallas Cowboys.
One of the great controversies of the season this year had nothing to do with a player or a coach, rather a team logo and nickname. The Washington Redskins team name is under intense scrutiny with many calling for the team to change its name.

John Woodrow Cox of The Washington Times reports that the combined forces of the nonprofit organization Not Your Mascots and the National Coalition Against Racism in Sports and Media hope to have 500 people protest the Redskins’ logo and team name at FedEx Field.
Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder is in support of the teams nickname and claims that it isn’t to exploit Native Americans but rather pay tribute to them. There is an angry uprising of people however that disagree with Snyder’s take on the team’s mascot.
If I were a Redskins fan I would be more upset at what Snyder has done with this team on the field as opposed to off but I can understand and appreciate both side of the coin on this polarizing debate. Houska is correct that they are not going away any time soon nor is this debate as even the President of the United States of America has let his opinion be known on the subject.
Unfortunately for the Redskins fans, this debate not going away anytime soon and neither is the abomination of a football team they put on the field through this sad 2014 season.
