The Boston Celtics are ramping up Rajon Rondo trade discussions early this year, as Western Conference teams are getting called up to gauge interest.
It seems we can’t go five minutes without the Boston Celtics wanting to trade Rajon Rondo, and those rumors are getting kicked up again early on in the season.

Rondo is in the final year of his contract and that is putting some pressure on the Celtics to make a decision on his future. There’s a chance that the team brings Rondo back but the trade rumors are as valid as they’ve ever been with his contract running out at the end of the year. According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears, the Celtics have engaged in ‘serious’ talks with Western Conference teams to trade Rajon Rondo before the deadline arrives in early 2015.
"Trade talks with Rondo have been focused more in the Western Conference than Eastern, sources said."
This seems to limit the options the Celtics have in trading Rondo, but there could be a richer return in terms of the quality of player Boston can get back. Teams like the Knicks, Heat and others in the East could offer a nice price for Rondo but there are deeper rosters of talent with the Suns, Lakers and Mavericks who would all jump at a chance to acquire Rondo.
That doesn’t mean a deal will happen, but the Celtics are trying to deal Rondo and that’s significant to realize this early on in the season.
