The Oregon Ducks and their fans could be getting some news they did not want to hear as cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu suffered a severe knee injury in practice that the team is concerned could be an ACL injury, Yahoo’s Rand Getlin is reporting on Wednesday.
Olomu is probably the top defensive player on the Ducks and would be a huge blow to the title hopes of the Ducks, who are set to face off against Florida State in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day as part of the first ever College Football Playoff.
Oregon’s defense was much improved compared to recent years and Olomu was a big part of that. On the season in 2014 as the Ducks made their run to the Pac-12 championship, the senior recorded 63 tackles with two interceptions and one forced fumble.
Aside from being the best defensive back on the Ducks’ roster, he is also considered one of the top defensive prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft.
