San Francisco 49ers Release Ray McDonald After New Sexual Assault Allegation
By Josh Hill
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald got off the hook for a domestic assault charge earlier this year, but a recent rape allegation has forced the 49ers to release him.
Earlier this season, when the needle on the NFL‘s domestic abuse meter was tapping out and breaking, Ray McDonald somehow avoided punishment by clearing his name against a sexual assault charge.

Everyone is going to have to revisit that situation now, as McDonald has again been accused of sexual assault in a new separate case. This time around though, the 49ers aren’t waiting things out to see if McDonald’s name will be cleared.
According to a release by the team, the San Francisco 49ers have cut defensive tackle Ray McDonald over his latest allegation of rape against him.
According to an earlier report, the victim in question with this latest sexual assault is not McDonald’s fiancé.
San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke stated that the release was due to a pattern of behavior that was not consistent with the team image the Niners have. He’s not wrong, but this is a stark contrast to what we heard from the 49ers earlier in the season when the first sexual assault charges and allegations were brought against McDonald.
Then again, that was the first time he had been accused, and here we sit with a second serious allegation less than a few months later. That’s indeed a patter of behavior that isn’t just inconsistent with the 49ers image, it’s inconsistent with humanity.
