Not only will Pitt need to find a new football coach, but they’ll have to do it without an athletic director, which always makes for a fun time.
Steve Pederson will no longer be the athletic director for the Pittsburgh Panthers, the school announced on Wednesday. This news comes on the same day that it was announced that Paul Chryst would officially be leaving the football program to become the head coach at Wisconsin.
So now, Pitt will need to start its search for a new coach to replace Chryst without the services of generally the most important person in the whole process, an athletic director.

This move today actually ends his second term with the school. Pederson was the AD at Pitt from 1996-2002 before he went off to take the same position at Nebraska. He would return to Pitt in 2007 to take back the reins, however in that time, he has not had the best of luck with coaches, to say the least.
So, needless to say, the Pitt program is not in the best place at the moment, and they have a lot of holes to fill. As with anything else, it starts at the top, so they would be wise to get this filled up before they get on a head coach.
