Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers

So I may live to regret this pick, especially with how TERRIBLE Johnny Manziel looked in his debut against the Bengals, but I really think the Browns have a bounce back game here. This is a team that was in playoff contention just a couple of weeks ago. They weren’t in contention because of Brian Hoyer’s play at QB, they were in contention because they have a good all around roster and that roster is still intact. As I type this there still hasn’t been any official announcement on if Cam Newton will return after his accident, but I’m not sure it matters. I don’t see either a banged up Newton or Derek Anderson having a lot of success against a defense that has allowed the lowest completion percentage (56.7%) and QB rating (71.7), and has the most interceptions of any team in the NFL (20). I’ll take the Browns in a close one.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

The Falcons and Saints have proven themselves to be pretty even teams this year. Both teams feature prolific passing offenses and defenses that give up way too many yards and points. The two things that I see working in the Saints favor this game are that they are at home and that they have the superior rushing attack. The Saints rank ninth in rushing yards this season while the Falcons are just 24th. Drew Brees appears to be peeking at the right time, having thrown 12 TDs to just 2 INTs over the last four games. It should be a bit of a shoot out, but I like the Saints to win in another close one.
