This announcement does not come as much of a surprise. Addazio is 14-11 as head coach, including a huge upset win against the USC Trojans this season, and has led the Boston College Eagles to bowl games in his first two seasons with the team.
While not a household name in college football, like an Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, or Les Miles, Addazio has brought exposure and hype to Boston College because of his “Be A Dude” philosophy, which is little known to many but, according to ESPN, means:
"“Be great. Be a baller. Be great at what you are. Just don’t be average.”"
Perhaps, A-“dudes”-io is a what we should be calling Addazio.
Although the team is performing and winning games on the field, Boston College seems like they’re having trouble bringing fans out to games, especially their bowl game at Yankee Stadium against Penn State.
They released this video trying to inspire all the “dudes” and “dudettes” to attend the Eagles’ bowl game.
I guess, that’s the guy I want running my college’s football team if he’s willing to embarrass himself like that.
