Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is reportedly on the trade block and there isn’t shortage of suitors. Everyone from the Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets have been mentioned or connected to the Celtics.
There was a report from Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk that said if Rondo found his way to Texas, he would re-sign with either the Mavericks or Rockets. Both teams have gone head-to-head in free agency and watching them compete for the trade of All-Star caliber player would be interesting.
The Mavericks are trying to contend in a deep and talented Western Conference and could use a player like Rondo to bolster their line up, and fans will cling to any detail to try and gain insight into what the team is doing. So when the Dallas Mavericks followed Rondo on Twitter, it raised some eyebrows, with some over zealous fans thinking a deal could be close to done.
And it is certainly true, the Mavericks did follow Rondo on Twitter, but that doesn’t mean much else.
