Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans head down to Jacksonville, Florida to battle the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football in what should probably be titled the Suck For A Duck Bowl. With both teams sitting at 2-12 and tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders for the NFL’s worse record the loser of this game might stand to profit more than the winner. The Suck For A Duck Bowl is in reference to the likely loser of this game standing a better chance to draft Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Marcus Mariota of the Oregon Ducks. So while this game holds zero implications for this years playoffs, it could hold huge implications for next years games.

Keys to Victory

For the Tennessee Titans I believe the key to victory will be in stopping the run. So far this year the Titans have done an abysmal job of stopping any and all running backs and have thus been dominated all year. They sit at 29th in total team defense as they have been fairly equal offenders in not stooping the run or the pass although they are closer to the middle of the pack against the pass I would suggest teams have no need to take to the air.

A key for both team will be turnovers. As of right now the Titans sit at a -9 on the season while the Jaguars have not done much better with a -8. Rookie quarterback for the Jaguars will need to do a good job of protecting the ball and not be careless as that could be a big key for this game. For the Titans merry-go-round of quarterbacks, it looks like due to injuries that Charlie Whitehurst will take the field who is 1-2 as a starter this year. The lone victory coming against the Jaguars earlier this year on Oct. 12.

Prediction

I am predicting the Jaguars to walk away from this thing as the winner. As a Titans fan maybe though I am just hoping to stay in the running of the Suck For a Duck campaign. Usually in these contest that don’t really matter it seems that the home team comes away with the win and that is probably why my guess is with the Jaguars. Toby Gerhart had a respectable 54 yards on 13 carries last week against a stellar run defense and knowing my Titans he could stand to triple that total and a few touchdowns to boot.
