Quarterback Drew Stanton might be back quicker than anyone expected.
It appeared when Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton injured his knee against the St. Louis Rams that he would be gone for an extended period of time. Ryan Lindley stepped up in his place and has been taking all the snaps this week in practice in preparation of the NFC West showdown with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football this week.
Yesterday, it was reported that Stanton participated in practice in limited fashion. Now Stanton even being limited is far better news than the four weeks he was expected to miss.
Today, Stanton was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game by head coach Bruce Arians.

It’s interesting because all the talk this week has been about backups Ryan Lindley and Logan Thomas, but with Stanton being doubtful, it means he might be ahead of the curve if he isn’t completely ruled out.
This Sunday, the Cardinals can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with the division win. It’s a game against Seattle that almost no one is giving them a chance to win. The Seahawks are playing their best football and the Cardinals are busy looking for more duct tape to fix the team. If Stanton can be back in some fashion, that will be a big emotional lift for Arizona.
