Jay Cutler has been benched — so we’re looking at who the Chicago Bears should turn to for 2015

This week the Chicago Bears announced they were benching quarterback Jay Cutler and turning their offense over to backup signal-caller Jimmy Clausen. Many believe it signaled the end of Cutler’s tenure in the Windy City, less than a year after he signed a massive seven-year, $126.7 million contract, with $54 million of that guaranteed.

While I said the contract was a mistake at the time, I still find it hard to believe the Bears would completely give up on Cutler after fewer than 12 months. That contract was a massive mistake that could set the franchise back a decade, and unloading it via trade is incredibly unlikely. The Bears would almost certainly have to eat a huge portion of the remaining guaranteed money if they got someone to take him.

There is no way the Bears would just release Cutler and eat his contract, which means a trade is the most likely scenario if he is heading out of town.

On the following pages I have listed what I see as the five top options the Bears have at quarterback heading into the 2015 season.
