In a world where the NHL is infested with cases of the mumps, it might be wise of Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux to keep his mouth to himself.

The current climate of the NHL is a pretty infectious one, but not in the sense that people have hockey fever. Instead, hockey players have actual fevers as the outbreak of mumps cases in the NHL is at an all-time high. Considering this isn’t 1914, this might be a new modern record for cases of the mumps, as just about every team in hockey is effected by the viral disease.

Sodney Crosby is the highest profile case of the mumps in the NHL this season, as the king of hockey isn’t even immune to the infection. With that in mind, you’d think that players were being sure take proper precautions to ensure they don’t get infected with the disease.

Think again, Flyers fans, as Claude Giroux gives no f-cks about the mumps and will bite another player’s jersey if he so pleases. That’s exactly what happened on Thursday night, as the Flyers captain decided that it would be a good idea to put the jersey of Florida Panthers winger Erik Gundbranson in his mouth.

You should probably keep your mouth to yourself in this climate in the NHL, but then again there’s no telling Claude Giroux what to do. He’s a man of his own creed and he’s going to bite you if he wants to — mumps be damned.
