In good news for the Florida Gators, quarterback Treon Harris is not expected to be suspended for an incident earlier in the week that had him driving a car that wasn’t his, without a license, as well as having marijuana in the vehicle. He wasn’t charged for the marijuana since the car he was driving didn’t belong to him.
There were two other Gators in the car, Jalen Tabor and J.C. Jackson. Harris was the only one charged for driving without a valid license. Harris was pulled over by cops for driving 10 mph over the limit.
On Friday, the Gators released a statement about the incident.
"“We are aware of the incident and are dealing with it internally and their bowl status hasn’t changed.” (via SB Nation)"
It’s pretty succinct and unsurprising considering Harris was the only one charged, and his charge is likely to be dropped once he acquires a valid license. He’s never had a license previously. The car he was driving wasn’t owned by either him or his teammates and so no one was charged for the marijuana present in the car.
Harris and Tabor have had previous encounters with the law. Harris for sexual battery and Tabor for actual marijuana possession. Tabor was cited back in May, and the battery complaint against Harris was eventually withdrawn in October. So Tabor, at least, could be accused of showing dubious judgment in the past. We have to assume that Florida is dealing with it.
