Santana Moss apologized for his tantrum that got him ejected during the Redskins loss to the New York Giants last Sunday, but he’ll still have to pay for it monetarily as well. Pro Football Talk reports that multiple sources say Moss will be getting a $22,050 fine for his abusive outburst directed at officials during the game. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Robert Griffin III apparently scored a touchdown to give the Redskins a 17-7 lead.

The touchdown was reviewed and then reversed by referee Jeff Triplette. The reasoning was that Griffin didn’t maintain possession for enough time to make the score stand. The result of the play was Moss angrily reacting at officials and getting thrown out of the game.

"“First we had an unsportsmanlike. The player’s language and pointing at the official was unsportsmanlike. Then a second act took place with another official. Language, very, very inappropriate language that was derogatory towards the official. That precipitated the disqualification,” Triplette said to a pool reporter. (via Pro Football Talk)"

After the game, Moss apologized, saying that he lost his cool and that he shouldn’t have let down his teammates. He also admitted that he was wrong, presumably in what he said to the officials.

The Redskins were assessed two 15-yard penalties after the incident and gave the Giants an opportunity to kick off from the Washington 35 yard line. They recovered an onside kick and then Giants kicker Josh Brown made a field goal to tie the game. The Redskins never really recovered and went on to lose 24-13.
