Jim Harbaugh is not expected to return to the San Francisco 49ers next season, but he is reportedly torn between taking the Michigan Wolverines job or staying in the NFL.

We have heard all of the stories by now regarding San Francisco 49ers head coach (for now) Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh, who refuses to talk about the Michigan offer himself, reportedly received an offer from the Wolverines that would pay him nearly $50 million over the course of the next six years.

Then, there was Marcellus Wiley saying Harbaugh has already accepted the offer.

Whether Wiley actually has some insight remains to be seen, but according to the latest report Harbaugh is still “torn” between heading to Michigan to accept the head coaching job or remaining in the NFL to pursue other head coaching jobs that could open at the end of the season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, some close to Harbaugh are urging him to join the Wolverines, but his real dream is still coaching in the NFL.

Schefter wrote:

"49ers HC Jim Harbaugh’s family and friends have been encouraging him to take the Michigan HC job, but he is torn because his heart is in the NFL, per sources close to the situation.Harbaugh first would like to see what head coaching opportunities come available – and he is likely to be a top choice for a handful of teams – before getting back to Michigan with an answer, per sources.Harbaugh also is aware of the fact that Michigan might not be able to wait for him, especially when it might not even land the coach who is believed to be the school’s top choice."

It will be interesting to see how things play out, but the clock is ticking and things will have to go to the next level in just over a week when the NFL season comes to its end.
