The past two seasons have been miserable for Robert Griffin III but don’t be surprised to see Washington Redskins bring back the former Offensive Rookie of the Year and hope he can revert to his rookie form.

Robert Griffin III has two more games to convince Jay Gruden he can be the franchise quarterback who can run his system and get Washington back into the playoffs. If he falters down the stretch could the team look to move on from the former No. 2 pick and rookie of the year?
Not according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport who believes RGIII will be back next year considering his salary is guaranteed.
Gruden has been critical of Griffin in public and hasn’t been quiet about the areas he needs to improve in order to live up to his franchise quarterback billing. He benched Griffin earlier in the season in favor of Colt McCoy but had to turn back to him once McCoy was injured. Whether it is Griffin, McCoy or someone else, Gruden just wants someone who can move the ball and help the team win.
Griffin has one more year on his rookie contract and has a $6,719,713 cap hit next season, according to spotrac.com. The team can exercise his fifth-year option in the offseason and prevent him from being an unrestricted free agent until after the 2016 season, so that could be more of a question rather than if he’ll be moved this offseason.
