Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton faced a scary situation last week when he was involved in a car accident and was taken to the hospital. Images of the car wreck painted a scary picture, including Newton being carried off on a stretcher.
Fortunately Newton was relatively unscathed and thankful to be alive in his own words. It did keep him out of action last week’s game, just days after the accident. It was a smart and safe move on both the Panthers and Newton’s part.
With Carolina still in the hunt for the NFC South title and a shot at the postseason, the Panthers will start Newton on Sunday.
Newton suffered a couple of transverse process fractures in the car accident, but Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered the same injury earlier in the season and played with it relatively shortly after suffering the injury.
Hopefully the Panthers line can give him some protection to prevent him from being further injured. With the opportunity the Panthers have, you can’t blame them for going for it.
