In replace of Jay Cutler, Jimmy Clausen isn’t playing all that badly against the Lions on Sunday.
As everyone knows by now the Chicago Bears decided to go in a different direction for quarterback on Sunday against the Lions, sitting down Jay Cutler and tossing Jimmy Clausen into the fire.
Well, all things considered, Clausen is doing quite well for himself in that fire on Sunday, as he has just put the ball in the end zone again.
With his team down 10-7 late in the third quarter, Clausen fired off his second touchdown pass of the afternoon against rival Detroit, this one a 20-yard strike to Alshon Jeffery to put the Bears ahead in this one.
Again, when you consider the circumstances, this is about as well as the Bears could have asked Clausen to play, and he’s keeping them in the game at least. There were a lot of people that were looking for him to fall flat on his face and, well, he’s not really doing that.
The Lions already have their playoff spot clinched, but the Bears are out there playing for pride. No one might have more of that on Sunday than Clausen with the way he’s out there throwing.
